WICHITA – (May 3, 2021) – A Wichita man has pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud charges and was ordered to repay the state Medicaid program more than $6,000 in restitution, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said today.

Klynt Cordero Guy, 33, of Wichita, entered guilty pleas in Sedgwick County District Court last week to two counts of making a false claim or representation to the Medicaid program. Sedgwick County District Judge Christopher Magana accepted the pleas and ordered Guy to pay $6,053.25 in restitution and the cost of the investigation and prosecution of the case.

An investigation by the Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division of Schmidt’s office found that Guy had committed the crimes between April 2016 and February 2017.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Kyle Edelman of Schmidt’s office.

The following statement about the Kansas Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is required by the federal government: The Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division in the Attorney General’s Office receives 75 percent of its funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under a grant award totaling $2,393,844 for Federal fiscal year (FFY) 2021. The remaining 25 percent, totaling $797,945 for FFY 2021, is funded by the Office of the Kansas Attorney General from moneys recovered in litigation.
