TOPEKA – (April 14, 2021) – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt today recognized Sgt. Paul Kimble of the Wichita Police Department for his outstanding service to crime victims.

In a video presentation as part of this year’s virtual Crime Victims’ Rights Conference, Schmidt announced that Kimble was the recipient of the Outstanding Criminal Justice Service Award for Law Enforcement.

Kimble is a 27-year veteran of the Wichita Police Department and is a field services overnight patrol sergeant. Since 2014, he has specialized as a domestic violence and sexual assault investigations trainer, including providing innovative courses on trauma-informed interviewing, through the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

“I have seen Sgt. Kimble go above and beyond to better the lives of victims in every aspect of his job,” said Wichita Officer Derek Ervin, who nominated Kimble. “I have seen [him] work on duty with victims, as well as, work tirelessly off duty … providing them services, providing them guidance and allowing the victims to be heard.”

The annual recognition of those who provide outstanding service to victims of crime is taking place during the 23rd Annual Crime Victims’ Rights Conference, hosted this week by the governor and attorney general. This conference is being held virtually for the first time and comes ahead of next week’s observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
