Oklahoma man convicted of murder, arson

INDEPENDENCE – (May 16, 2017) – An Oklahoma man was convicted yesterday of murder and related crimes, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

 A Montgomery County jury found Thad Green, 33, of Pawhuska, Okla., guilty of one count of premeditated first degree murder, one count of arson and one count of aggravated burglary. Judge F. William Cullins presided over the trial. Sentencing has been set for August 3 at 1 p.m. in Montgomery County District Court.

 The crimes were committed in December 2015 in the Jefferson area of rural Montgomery County in connection with the death of Cameron Wawrzynaik. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of investigation, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Assistant Attorneys General Jessica Domme and Amanda Voth of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
