AG Schmidt to conduct agriculture tour in southeast, south central Kansas next week

TOPEKA – (April 13, 2016) – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt will continue his agricultural industry listening tour in southeast and south central Kansas next week, his office announced today.

“Agriculture is our state’s largest industry,” Schmidt said, “and it is important to hear from Kansas producers about the legal and regulatory issues they are facing. I look forward to visiting with farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses in southeast and south central Kansas next week.”

Schmidt serves as a member of the agriculture committee for the National Association of Attorneys General. During his time as attorney general, Schmidt has worked to protect Kansas agriculture by fighting against harmful federal regulations, including water regulations and labor rules. As a former member of the Kansas Senate, Schmidt previously served as chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

In addition to the agriculture tour, Schmidt’s office will host a training session on open government next week in Chanute and Schmidt will give a consumer protection presentation sponsored by the Baxter Springs Police Department.
