WICHITA – (September 8, 2011) – A Sedgwick County Court today sentenced Rachel E. Davis, Wichita, to prison after she pled guilty to one count of making a false claim to the Medicaid program, 12 counts of forgery, and one count of felony theft, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced.
Davis, age 32, was sentenced by Judge Benjamin Burgess to eight months in prison. However, Burgess granted Davis 18 months of probation after Davis serves 45 days in jail as a condition of her probation. The State alleged that Davis completed and signed timesheets for “home-based” services she claimed to have provided to her grandmother after her grandmother had passed away.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Amanda Voth from Schmidt’s office. The total loss to the Kansas Medicaid Program was $1,843.58, and restitution has been ordered in that amount.
