The Office of the Kansas Attorney General’s Civil Division operates as a general-service law firm for the State of Kansas and its many constituent agencies. We provide legal advice as general counsel to agencies across state government. We represent State agencies, institutions of higher education, and employees sued in state and federal court for personal injuries, property damage, employment discrimination, and more.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Civil Division’s Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) section. This section litigates cases where the State will appear as the plaintiff, affirmatively asserting and protecting State interests. This practice involves a wide range of plaintiff-oriented cases such as false claims, breach of contract, illegal annexations, enforcement actions on behalf of the State of Kansas, representing state agencies in administrative disciplinary/licensing matters, ensuring Kansas’ compliance with the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement (MSA), and pursuing judgments on behalf of the state. The Assistant Attorney General will litigate cases with a team with other attorneys, one special agent, and administrative support professionals.
