Registered Nurse (RN) Investigator - Criminal Division - Medicaid Fraud Control Unit
The Office of the Kansas Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) who will utilize their nursing education and experience to review complaints of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults, particularly those in Medicaid-supported facilities. The RN Investigator will provide consultation on medical records; assist the Unit’s agents with interviews of medical personnel; provide consultation on medical issues and long term care issues to Unit attorneys, agents, cooperating law enforcement and administrative agencies; and review complaints filed with the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) and other state agencies
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Reviews complaints filed with the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) and other state agencies to identify cases of fraud and/or abuse requiring further investigation.
- Conducts routine and advanced investigations of possible or alleged fraud by Medicaid providers and allegations of abuse or neglect of persons served by Medicaid providers.
- Develops accurate detailed reports of investigative findings with recommendations, with appropriate justification, for civil, criminal, or administrative action.
- Locates, interviews and writes reports on information gathered from potential witnesses and suspects, including Medicaid providers, their employees, recipients, and others who may have knowledge pertinent to evaluating whether Medicaid providers have violated state and federal laws.
- Procures, analyzes and interprets computerized data, financial records, medical records, investigative records, legal documents, federal and state laws, regulations, policies and other material in the pursuit of evidence of fraud and adult abuse.
- Testifies in administrative or court proceedings resulting from investigations.
- Locates, collects, and preserves evidence of criminal or civil fraud or abuse or neglect, including acting as the affiant in search warrant proceedings.
- Provides education to provider groups and community groups.
