Special Agent (Commissioned Law Enforcement) - Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division
The Office of the Kansas Attorney General (OAG) is accepting applications for a Special Agent (Commissioned Law Enforcement) in our Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division to conduct mostly white-collar investigations involving possible or alleged fraud and/or abuse within the State of Kansas’ Medicaid program. Under supervision of the Deputy Attorney General and the Special Agent in Charge, the Special Agent will perform duties to include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with other team members, conduct routine and advanced white-collar investigations of matters relating to Medicaid provider fraud, fraud in the administration of the Medicaid program and/or alleged abuse, neglect or exploitation of patients in residential care facilities receiving payment under a federal health care program.
- Locate, collect, analyze, and preserve evidence which largely consists of claim and payment documentation.
- Develop and prepare accurate detailed reports of investigative findings with recommendations, with appropriate justification, for civil, criminal, or administrative action.
- Conduct interviews and prepare reports on information gathered from potential witnesses and suspects, including Medicaid providers, their employees, recipients, and others who may have knowledge pertinent to evaluating whether Medicaid providers have violated state and federal laws.
- Procure, analyze and interpret computerized data, financial records, medical records, investigative records, legal documents, federal and state laws, regulations, policies and other material in the pursuit of evidence of fraud and dependent adult or elder abuse.
- Testify as a witness in administrative or court proceedings resulting from investigations.
- Coordinate investigations, also working with appropriate state and federal agencies, including the state Medicaid agency, the United States Attorney’s Office, state and federal investigative agencies, district and county attorneys, and local law enforcement agencies.
- Prepare, coordinate and execute search warrants, including acting as the affiant in search warrant proceedings, as necessary.
- Perform tasks related to apprehension, arrest, and booking of suspects.

Qualifications
Education
- Graduate from a high school accredited by the Kansas state board of education or the appropriate accrediting agency of another state jurisdiction or have obtained the equivalent of a high school education
