La Cygne man convicted of assault and battery of law enforcement officer

MOUND CITY – (September 15, 2017) – A La Cygne man was convicted yesterday of aggravated assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

John Edward Teters, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of battery against a law enforcement officer. The plea was accepted by Linn County District Court Judge Terri L. Johnson. Sentencing has been set for November 28 at 11 a.m. in Linn County District Court.

The crimes were committed in August against a Linn County correctional officer. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant Attorney General Adam Zentner of Schmidt’s office is prosecuting the case.
