False Claims

In 2009, the Kansas Legislature enacted the Kansas False Claims Act, giving the attorney general authority to recover funds improperly paid by a state agency or local government. Examples of this include billing for services or goods not supplied, over-billing or defrauding government assistance programs.

The attorney general's office takes seriously our responsibility to ensure taxpayers' money is spent properly, and focus on recovering funds improperly spent.

We rely on information from local government officials, public employees and the general public to make us aware of public funds being misspent.

If you have information that could help us identify funds which could be recovered under the False Claims Act, please call our office at (785) 296-2215, or click here to send us an email.
