TOPEKA – (March 26, 2018) – A Maryland man last week pleaded no contest to two felony counts of securities crimes, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.
Ronald D. Morley, 63, pleaded no contest on Friday to one count of securities fraud and one count of acting as an unregistered issuer agent. The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred in Shawnee County between 2011 and 2013. The loss to four Kansas investors was more than $800,000. Shawnee County District Court Judge Mark S. Braun accepted the pleas.
Sentencing has been scheduled for July 3.
The case was originally filed and investigated by the Office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner. Deputy Attorney General Steven Karrer and Assistant Attorney General Stacy Edwards of Schmidt’s office are prosecuting the case.
