Greenwood county man pleads guilty to murder, child abuse

EUREKA – (March 8, 2018) – A Greenwood County man today pleaded guilty to murder and child abuse, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Benny William Clark, 23, of Reece, pleaded guilty to one count of murder in the second degree and one count of abuse of a child. Judge Mike Ward accepted the pleas in Greenwood County District Court. The crimes occurred in August 2017. The victim was the defendant’s 6 month old son.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 5 at 10 a.m.

The case was investigated by the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wichita Police Department’s Exploited and Missing Child Unit. Assistant Attorney General Lyndzie Carter of Schmidt’s office and Greenwood County Attorney Joe Lee are prosecuting the case.
