WICHITA – (April 24, 2015) – Lyon County resident Amy Aranda was recognized for her service to crime victims during this week’s Crime Victim’s Rights Conference in Wichita.
Aranda, who serves as Assistant Lyon County Attorney, was presented the Community Champion Award by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt during an awards ceremony this morning. Aranda was nominated by Lucas Moody, child advocate for SOS, Inc.
“Amy Aranda is a vital component in the make-up of the SOS Child Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary Team and plays an even more crucial role in the prosecution of child sex crimes. Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the teams’ efforts for increasing advocacy and the strengthening of families, as well as providing valuable legal insight toward the prosecution of offenders,” Moody said in his nomination.
The Kansas Crime Victims Rights Conference was hosted by Attorney General Schmidt and Governor Sam Brownback. The conference featured a number of speakers and trainers focused on raising awareness of emerging crimes and offering new approaches to respond to enduring crimes, such as child abuse, domestic violence and human trafficking.
