Wichita man sentenced to more than 10 years on meth charge

PRATT – (April 9, 2015) – A Wichita man was sentenced today to more than 10 years in prison for distribution of methamphetamine, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

 Johnny Watkins, 41, was sentenced to 123 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections by Judge Francis Meisenheimer in Pratt County District Court. Watkins pleaded guilty to the crime in December 2014. The crime occurred in July 2012 in Pratt County.

 The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Dodge City Police Department. Assistant Attorneys General Steve Wilhoft and Lyndzie Carter of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
