Hutchinson man found guilty of attempted first-degree murder

HUTCHINSON – (June 12, 2014) – A Hutchinson man was found guilty yesterday of the attempted first-degree murder of the Reno County district attorney, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Michael Sherman, 27, was convicted by a Reno County jury of the charge of attempted first-degree murder. District Judge Trish Rose presided over the trial and scheduled sentencing for July 28 at 9 a.m.

The charge stemmed from an incident in July 2013 when Sherman attacked Reno County District Attorney Keith Schroeder during a court hearing. Assistant Attorney General Steve Karrer is prosecuting the case.
