WASHINGTON, Kan. – (August 8, 2012) – A Washington County couple each received maximum sentences for child sex crimes, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said today.
Troy Jearald Fencil, 40, Greenleaf, was sentenced to 218 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. He pleaded guilty last month to charges of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties and sexual exploitation of a child.
Virginia Fencil, 30, also of Greenleaf, was sentenced to 137 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. She pleaded no contest last month to one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated endangerment of a child.
Judge Kim W. Cudney handed down the sentences Wednesday in Washington County District Court.
Washington County Attorney Elizabeth Baskerville Hiltgen and Assistant Attorney General Christine Ladner prosecuted the case. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
