LeRoy woman pleads no contest to second degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child

BURLINGTON – (June 1, 2012) – A LeRoy woman has pleaded no contest to second degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced today.

Karen Marie Bailey, 23, pled no contest to the felony charges of second degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child.  Sentencing is set for July 5, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in Coffey County District Court.  The Honorable Phillip M. Fromme, Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District, is presiding over the case.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Lee Davidson, from Schmidt’s office and Coffey County Attorney Doug Witteman.  The case was investigated by the Coffey County Sheriff’s Department.  The Iola Police Department and Anderson County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation.
