Longoria found guilty of capital murder

GREAT BEND – (April 6, 2012) – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt issued the following statement today after the guilty verdict by the jury in the case State v. Adam Longoria. After almost four hours of deliberation, the Barton County jury found Longoria guilty of capital murder, burglary and felony theft.

“This was a tragic experience for the family of Alica DeBolt and the community. My thanks to the jury for their service. I commend the prosecution team of Kevin O’Connor, Andrew Bauch and Douglas A. Matthews for their diligence and hard work. I appreciate the dedication of local and state law enforcement in this difficult case. Justice was served today,” Schmidt said.

This case was heard in Barton County District Court by Judge Hannelore Kitts. Sentencing has been scheduled for June 8 at 1 p.m.
