Coffey County man sentenced to nearly 5 years for child sex crimes

BURLINGTON – (April 12, 2018) – A Coffey County man was sentenced today to nearly 5 years in prison after pleading no contest to child sex crimes, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Mathew Vander Linden, 29, of Burlington, pleaded no contest in December to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy. Judge Eric W. Godderz today sentenced Vander Linden to 59 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. Vander Linden is also subject to lifetime post-release supervision and sex offender registration. The crimes occurred in November 2016.

The case was investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Assistant Attorney General Will Manly and Acting Deputy Attorney General Melissa Johnson of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
