Kanopolis man sentenced to 19 years for voluntary manslaughter

SALINA – (June 1, 2015) – A Kanopolis man was sentenced today to 19 years in prison after being found guilty of voluntary manslaughter, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

 Douglas L.  Aldrich, 53, was sentenced in Saline County District Court by Judge Rene Young to 228 months in prison for voluntary manslaughter to be served in the Kansas Department of Corrections. A jury found him guilty in April.  The conviction stemmed from a crime that occurred in February of 2003.

 The case was investigated by the Salina Police Department. Assistant Attorneys General Melissa Johnson and Charles W. Klebe of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
