AG Schmidt announces upcoming open meeting, open records training

TOPEKA – (June 23, 2014) – Registration is now open for the annual Kansas Open Meetings and Open Records Act training seminars, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced today. The seminars will be presented at six locations across Kansas and are sponsored by the Attorney General’s Office, Kansas Sunshine Coalition for Open Government, Kansas Press Association and Kansas Newspaper Foundation.

“We are pleased to once again offer these seminars on the basics of Kansas open meeting and open records laws,” Schmidt said. “Keeping public officials, members of the media and the general public informed about the requirements of these laws helps prevent unintentional violations from occurring.”
