Unfortunately, the Attorney General’s office is only able to assist individuals. The Kansas Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) only applies to “consumer” transactions. “Consumer” is defined as an individual or sole proprietorship. As a result, the Attorney General is not authorized to investigate or enforce the KCPA with regard to corporations, partnerships or other group organizations, who may have been victimized. Unfortunately, businesses are not able to file an Investigative Request with our office and need to seek private legal counsel or pursue the matter in small claims court.
